About the opportunity

Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client, a global leader in minerals processing and mining equipment technology, for Facility Technicians to join their Technology Centre in Clayton. This is a hands-on, temporary opportunity supporting consultancy, research and development test work across a leading minerals product range.

You'll run pilot plant and equipment trials, prepare samples, and turn raw test results into clean, tabulated data for the engineering team — a varied role split across the lab and the test floor, ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy and enjoys practical, technical work.

The details

  • Pay rate: $44.00 per hour (casual rate, inclusive of casual loading), plus penalties for weekend, overtime and public holiday work
  • Hours: Monday to Friday — shift options of 6:00am–2:00pm or 1:00pm–9:00pm
  • Duration: Short-term temporary assignment
  • Classification: C7 / Laboratory Technician Level III, Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020
  • Location: Weir Technology Centre, Clayton VIC 3168
What you'll be doing

  • Carry out equipment and pilot plant test work, collecting results and producing tabulated data for engineering review
  • Prepare and review test results and plans
  • Conduct laboratory test work including particle size analysis and rheological characterisation
  • Install, commission and operate test equipment, including basic process electronics on new rigs
  • Adapt equipment and test rig configurations to suit different applications
  • Manage incoming and outgoing materials in line with handling procedures — MSDS records, delivery manifests, volume tracking and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Quarantine and document any defective materials or equipment
  • Champion a safety-first culture and lead by example on all safety and environmental practices
What you'll bring

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant industry experience
  • Experience with basic metal fabrication (desirable)
  • Confident handling small tools, both powered and manual
  • Strong written and verbal communication — able to write routine reports and present data clearly
  • Sound numeracy: comfortable with measurements, ratios, percentages and interpreting graphs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and a genuine commitment to Zero Harm
The work environment

A varied role split between office-based data work and active test environments. Expect loud indoor/outdoor settings with moving mechanical parts (PPE provided and required at all times), occasional lifting up to ~7kg, and periods of desk work.
