The Role
The Senior Project Manager – Major Projects is responsible for the planning, procurement, contract management and delivery of a portfolio of complex infrastructure projects across Yarra Valley Water’s capital program. The role provides technical and project leadership to Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with scope, budget, schedule and quality requirements.
Drawing on extensive experience managing major construction and engineering contracts, the Senior Project Manager oversees contractor performance, risk management, stakeholder engagement and project governance across multiple concurrent projects. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the role provides expert advice and leadership to support successful project outcomes, operational readiness and the long-term objectives of Yarra Valley Water.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist guidance to Project Managers on planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover aspects to ensure successful project integration and interface outcomes
Provide technical support to the team including review of key documents such as drawings, specification, tender packages, tender evaluation and contract documentation
Apply technical and commercial expertise to identify risks, opportunities, and improvement areas across a range of projects.
Develop project delivery strategies in conjunction with Project Managers and various teams within Yarra Valley Water to ensure best for community outcomes on projects
Champion good project governance in accordance with Yarra Valley Water’s Enterprise Delivery Framework, including the preparation of high-quality Business Cases, Project Management Plans, RAID registers and other key project management documents
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery partners. Support the sustainable and efficient delivery of high-quality assets through effective engagement with consultants and contractors and promote best-practice stakeholder and community engagement.
What we’re Looking for
Demonstrated experience delivering major water infrastructure and/or large-diameter pipeline projects through the design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases, with a strong understanding of associated engineering, operational and stakeholder requirements and applied knowledge of the various construction techniques, for temporary and permanent works.
Advanced expertise in project management practices, including cost, risk and schedule management on large projects.
Expertise in contract management including commercial acumen, contract negotiation and superintendency across various contract types, such as Construct Only, Design and Construct, Early Contractor Involvement and Collaborative contracting models.
Resilience and adaptability in complex environments, with a focus on delivering improved customer experiences, high-quality assets, and value for money
Valid Victorian Driver’s License
