About the role
Coopers Minerals is seeking a skilled Fitter, Maintenance, Welder to join our team on a casual basis with the view to proceed to full time. Based in Coimadai, VIC 3340, this role is fundamental to maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of our mining and mineral processing facilities. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, fitting, and welding tasks that keep our equipment running smoothly and our operations productive. This position offers flexibility through casual employment whilst providing the opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key responsibilities
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mining and processing equipment, machinery and infrastructure
Conduct fitting work including assembly, disassembly, alignment and installation of machinery components and equipment
Carry out welding operations to fabricate, repair and maintain structural and mechanical components to specification
Diagnose equipment faults and defects, implementing appropriate corrective and maintenance solutions
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and maintenance manuals to guide work activities
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed and equipment performance
Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations and protocols on site
Work collaboratively with other personnel and operational teams to ensure minimal downtime
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations as required
What we're looking for
Trade qualifications in fitting, maintenance mechanics or welding, or equivalent demonstrated experience in maintenance roles within mining or industrial environments
Proven experience performing fitting tasks including equipment assembly, alignment and installation
Demonstrated welding competency with experience in fabrication and repair work
Sound knowledge of hand tools, power tools and specialist maintenance equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues
Commitment to workplace health and safety practices and compliance with relevant regulations
Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions
Excellent attention to detail and workmanship standards
Flexibility to work casual hours as operational requirements dictate
