About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Safety & Assurance Manager to lead safety outcomes in a complex, high-risk operational environment. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving a safety-first culture, reducing occupational incidents (including occupational violence), and embedding strong safety systems and practices across the site. Reporting to the site General Manager, you will work closely with senior leaders and frontline teams to translate strategy into practical, on-the-ground outcomes, while strengthening workforce capability and ensuring compliance with legislative obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of strategic safety and wellbeing initiatives across the site
  • Drive programs aimed at reducing occupational risk and workplace incidents
  • Provide high-level advice to leadership on safety risk, compliance, and performance
  • Coach and mentor leaders, frontline teams, and Health & Safety Representatives
  • Identify gaps and implement improvements to safety systems, processes, and reporting
  • Engage with external regulators and stakeholders

You are a confident and resilient safety leader who thrives in challenging, high-pressure environments and is able to influence across all levels of an organisation.

You will bring
  • Strong experience in occupational health & safety leadership roles
  • Demonstrated success in implementing strategy into operational delivery
  • Expertise in incident investigation, risk management, and safety systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders
  • Experience driving cultural change and improving safety performance
  • High levels of resilience and sound judgement in complex environments
