Therapeutic Guidelines Limited is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established almost 50 years ago by leading members of the Australian healthcare community. Over time, Therapeutic Guidelines has evolved into Australia’s leading digital healthcare publisher, delivering trusted resources including Therapeutic Guidelines, Australian Prescriber, Don’t Rush to Crush, and ObesiD.

This is the first dedicated QA leadership position at Therapeutic Guidelines, and the person appointed will build and mature the QA function from the ground up, establishing strategy, standards, tooling, and team capability across a lean, high-performing technology environment.

As the gatekeeper for release quality, you will own the end-to-end test lifecycle across all squads, products, and deliveries. You will lead and coordinate testing efforts across web, iOS and Android applications, integrations, and platform infrastructure, ensuring only quality-assured, thoroughly tested software reaches production. You will manage Quality Assurance Engineers and may oversee offshore test resources, providing mentorship, standards governance, and day-to-day direction to the broader QA function.

You will work closely with IT Leads, Developers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and internal and external stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, lead user acceptance testing, drive automation maturity, and maintain documentation standards. In a health-sector environment where clinical content integrity and system reliability are essential, the quality bar is high and the impact of your work is real.

A note on the evolving nature of this role: in the initial phase, the Lead QA Engineer will carry significant hands-on testing responsibilities alongside their leadership obligations, personally executing test plans, building automated test suites, performing exploratory and regression testing, and maintaining test records. As the QA function matures, team members are onboarded, and offshore testing capability is established, the balance will shift naturally toward leadership, governance, and oversight. Some level of direct testing involvement is expected to remain an ongoing part of the role, reflecting the nature of a lean, high-performing technology team.

You will join an organisation with an exceptional team culture. We are deeply connected to our vision and the impact we have in Australian healthcare. Our people are highly collaborative, purpose-driven, and proud of the trust we have built over decades.

About you

You are a senior QA professional who combines deep technical testing expertise with the communication, leadership, and strategic mindset to build and run a quality function. You are as comfortable writing automated test scripts as you are presenting a test strategy to senior stakeholders. You understand that quality is a team discipline, not a gate at the end of a pipeline, and you have the drive and adaptability to stand up a function in a purpose-led organisation where the stakes are genuinely high.

Essential

•  Tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related field.

•  Minimum 5 years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead QA capacity.

•  Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating QA efforts across multiple products, squads, or delivery streams.

•  Strong command of test strategy, test planning, test case design, and test execution across functional, regression, integration, and UAT disciplines.

•  Proven experience building or maturing automated test suites using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent frameworks.

•  Experience with mobile application testing (iOS and Android) and API/integration testing.

•  Familiarity with Agile and Scrum delivery practices, including participation in grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

•  Experience defining and enforcing QA standards, documentation practices, and release sign-off processes.

•  Strong stakeholder communication skills — able to translate technical quality issues into clear business risk language.

•  Experience managing or mentoring QA team members, including offshore or distributed test resources.

Desirable

•  Experience in a health, clinical content, or regulated digital environment where data integrity and accuracy are critical.

•  Familiarity with Salesforce platform testing, including CRM integrations and release management.

•  Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).

•  Exposure to performance, load, or accessibility testing.

•  ISTQB certification or equivalent formal QA qualification.

•  Experience standing up a QA function or practice from scratch within an established technology team.

•  Familiarity with health sector digital products and the clinical content standards that govern them.
