The Opportunity

As the Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the group by delivering highly accurate financial reporting, robust compliance, and effective financial control. This position reports into the Finance Manager, leadership teams, and operational divisions to ensure the timely delivery of actionable financial insights that directly support strategic decision-making.  

Starting as a 6-month contract, this role is designed to evolve, offering a long-term growth pathway that blends management accounting and business partnering. The opportunity ideally suits a proactive, detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys being hands-on, working closely with cross-functional property teams, and improving financial workflows. You will navigate a complex, multi-entity environment to manage project accounting, cash flow, and tax obligations. It is a unique chance to help build robust financial foundations, uplift financial literacy across operations, and support the long-term commercial success of a major property group.

What You'll Do

In this hands-on Financial Accountant role, you will take ownership of key finance activities and play a pivotal role in supporting the group during a period of continuous evolution. You will manage end-to-end month-end close journals, prepare consolidated management and statutory accounts, and assist in delivering comprehensive board and bank reporting.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial & Development Accounting: Managing month-end reporting, intercompany eliminations, and the end-to-end job costing lifecycle for property developments, including WIP tracking and project profitability analysis.  
  • Cashflow & Treasury Management: Producing regular cashflow forecasts, monitoring loan balances, and overseeing banking covenant reporting to ensure optimal liquidity.  Tax,
  • Audit & Compliance: Preparing BAS and regulatory lodgements, supporting income tax returns, and maintaining audit-ready documentation and workpapers.  Operational
  • Oversight & Optimization: Overseeing accounts payable and receivable workflows, driving ERP system process improvements, and partnering with internal teams to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and commercial value creation.
What You'll Bring

You will bring proven experience in accounting or finance, supported by CA or CPA qualifications (or actively working towards them). You will have a strong understanding of financial reporting, month-end processes, tax compliance (GST/BAS), and statutory reporting. Experience with job costing, project accounting, or working within property, development, or complex group structures is highly preferred.

Highly organised with a structured approach, you possess advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems like SAP or Yardi. You can comfortably manage competing priorities with exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders across all levels. A continuous improvement mindset, commercial awareness, and a proactive, "can-do" attitude are essential to thrive in this collaborative environment while operating confidently both independently and as part of a team.
